Julie has been writing for about ten years. She was ‘poet in residence’ at ‘The Pleasance Theatre Edinburgh’ during the festival, twice, 2012 & 2013. Her book “Erotic Poetry For Vegans & Vegetarians” landed in the final pile of ten for the inaugural ‘Ted Hughes Award’ in 2009. Brian Patten’s comment on the book: “Does for sprouts what Wordsworth did for daffodils”. She received **** from ‘Three Weeks’ for her poetry show at ‘The Assembly Rooms Edinburgh.’ “Funny. Wordsmith.”

Julie has taken her ‘Word Cafè’ to The Pleasance Theatre, Edinburgh & London, The Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington, The Groucho Club & The Chelsea Arts Club.

Roger McGough’s comment on ‘The Word Cafè’:
“These are the kind of events that bring poetry to life.”

She has shared stages with Roger McGough, Brian Patten, Jo Bell, Kate Fox, John Hegley, Murray Lachlan Young, Elvis McGonagall, Rachel McCrum and Matt Harvey.

Greg Lakeman, musician put this on Facebook after seeing her perform: –
“Best performance poet I’ve seen since John Cooper Clarke. Clever and thoughtful words but most importantly, totally accessible poetry.”

Nick came to performance poetry from a background of songwriting & musical performance about 3 years ago. That background is apparent in his poetry. He writes on a wide variety of subjects & loves poetry as a platform to talk about topics important to him. Very often writing from personal experience, a regular performer on the Devon poetry circuit, he’s now reaching further afield.

He’s also a multi slam winner, including April’s That Creative Thingy Wotsit Online Slam and he’s through to the Hammer & Tongue National Slam Finals courtesy of winning an H&T slam at the Edinburgh Fringe. Nick never shies away from writing & saying what he really thinks.

“Nick Kitto delights audiences with his confident & musically informed delivery, versatile wit & playful linguistic gymnastics. There is no subject he will not tackle & seemingly no form he will not embrace. Often serious, sometimes vulnerable, always watchable. I thoroughly endorse this poet” Tim King

“A great performer oozing soulful, intelligent poetry veering from the serious to the hysterically funny.” Veronica Aaronson

“Nick Kitto is a softly spoken slam winning phenomenon who performs with passion & heart. Mixing environmental & societal concerns with poems about snacks kept in the glovebox, Nick is a beautiful soul who should not be missed” Robert Garnham
